An atmospheric afternoon for young and old alike

On January 18th, 2026, the Rococo Dornburg Castle invites culture and connoisseurs to a heartwarming winter wonderland – amidst the enchanting winter landscape of the Dornburg Castles and Gardens. Whether it's a cosy get-together by the fire, a varied programme or interactive experiences for children: this afternoon offers a special experience for the whole family.

From 3 p.m., visitors are welcome at the tea spot: gathered around warming fire pits, they can enjoy the winter atmosphere and strike up conversations over a hearty snack, mulled wine and bread on a stick. The Dornburg folk choir will provide musical entertainment, inviting visitors to linger with their performance at 3:30 p.m.

There's no shortage of spirit of discovery:
The Bauhaus Workshop Museum in the Marstall is open during the event and invites visitors to explore in a playful way with its children's audio guide.

Those interested in culture can take part in two special guided tours:
At 4 p.m., there will be a guided tour for adults through the Rococo palace, and at 5 p.m., children can enjoy a guided tour with torches and UV lamps through special rooms in the palace. Important: Please bring slippers for both tours and register in advance by calling 036427-215131, as the number of participants is limited.

To round off the afternoon in style, all guests are invited to a fire show on the tea terrace at 6.30 p.m. – a fascinating highlight that lets the magic of winter shine in flickering light.

The event is organised by the Thuringian Castles and Gardens Foundation. Look forward to an enjoyable cultural winter experience in one of Thuringia's most beautiful historical ensembles!
